WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will provide users with more control over their device storage. This update introduces a per-chat storage management feature that allows users to view and delete large files within individual conversations.
If you are a frequent WhatsApp user, you are likely to have noticed how quickly WhatsApp shared media like photos, videos, and documents can fill up your phone’s storage. While WhatsApp already offers a global setting in the Manage Storage list, this new addition will provide the same feature directly in every chat, making it easier and more personalized.
According to WaBetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp includes a new option in the chat info section that displays how much space each conversation is using. The updated Manage Storage tab features a grid view of all shared media files that can be sorted by file size or date sent to the user.

This will allow users to quickly review the largest space-consuming files in any given chat and remove unnecessary files without leaving the chat. Whether it’s large videos from group chats or old documents from work threads, this update will make cleaning up the storage efficient.
While the global storage management option is not new, integrating this feature inside each chat adds convenience and clarity. Users will not need to navigate through multiple menus, but they can quickly identify how much space a specific chat consumes and take action right there.
Currently, only a few iOS beta testers can use the new per-chat storage management feature. WhatsApp will launch it to a larger audience in the coming weeks, but roll it out in stages.
