Many of the products it introduced have yet to become available, with the latest being Gemini Live, which launched at I/O 2024. Gemini Live is not a conventional voice assistant, a text-to-speech AI-based chatbot, but a conversational AI that can be interrupted and resumed later. It’s a direct competitor to OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode, limited to only a small set of alpha testers.
Still, Google has outdone OpenAI and introduced Gemini Live for all Advanced users to enjoy. In other words, for $20 a month, you can subscribe to Gemini Advanced, which gets you Gemini Live immediately. Do you know that Gemini Live is currently available for only Android handsets and supports only English? Google has announced that Gemini Live will be released for iOS in the coming weeks, and more languages will be included.
Note: Let me tell you how to get Gemini Live for any Android phone as soon as possible.
How to Use Gemini Live on Android Immediately
- Subscribe to Gemini Advanced here. Currently, Google offers one month of use without payment or any charge.
- The Gemini app (visit) for Android devices is now available for free download. If installed, remember to update it to at least version 1. 0. 662093464 from the Play Store.
- You can also download the latest Gemini APK from APKMirror (here).
- Next, open the Play Store and update the ‘Google app’ (here) to the earliest version possible (15.33.36.28 or later).
- Now that’s done, launch the Gemini app, and you should find a “voice chat” icon in the bottom-right corner.
- If you cannot find it, try force-stopping Google and Gemini apps and reopening them.
- At last, press the voice chat button, and you can begin a conversation immediately with Gemini Live.
For some users, Gemini Live may still not be available as Google is gradually releasing the feature. Besides that, the feature that allows using the camera during Gemini Live discussions is still in development. I think it will arrive in the future or already exists, but I do not know about it.
