After years of slow development, WhatsApp has begun work on one of its most-requested features, multi-account support. Previously, it was reported that internal testing of iOS was going on, but the feature has now officially begun rolling out to some iPhone users via the latest TestFlight update.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for iOS version 25.19.10.74 introduces the ability for beta testers to access other WhatsApp accounts and switch between them through the app settings, without needing to log out, uninstall, or restart the app. Each account has its own chat history, notification sound, privacy settings, and preferences, similar to how account switching works on Instagram and Facebook.
However, availability is currently limited. Here’s everything we know so far.
A new account list arrives on iOS

WABetaInfo reports that users who receive this update will notice a new Account List option in the WhatsApp settings. Some users may also find a specific icon added next to the QR code button.
At this early stage, WhatsApp allows users to add multiple accounts in the same app. The additional account can either be
- A new number
- A number previously used on WhatsApp Business
- A number linked with WhatsApp on another device
Once added, WhatsApp will automatically start syncing messages, media, and user settings with the newly connected account.
Separate backups and easy account switching
Another major improvement is that WhatsApp now generates personal backups for each account, allowing users to manage data and restore chats independently.
Switching between accounts is very easy. Press and hold the Settings tab, and you can instantly jump from one account to another.
All existing features continue to work across accounts.
- Chat Lock
- Face ID authentication
- Privacy controls
- Custom notifications
- Message backup options
While this is a major step, WhatsApp is not ready to be rolled out globally. WABetaInfo confirms that it is currently limited to a small group of iOS beta testers.
