WhatsApp is working on a cover photo feature for its iOS app that can allow users to customize their profile. The feature, spotted in the latest iOS beta version, allows users to post a large banner image above the profile picture and control its visibility.
The feature is currently under development and not yet available to all beta testers. Once released, users can choose a cover photo from their gallery, reposition it, or delete it without affecting their profile picture.

With this cover photo feature, WhatsApp is also working on privacy settings related to this new feature. These controls will allow users to choose who can view their cover image, using options similar to existing profile photo privacy controls and profile status updates privacy controls.
Available privacy options are expected to include settings such as “Everyone,” “My contacts,” and “My contacts except,” allowing users to have more control over visibility.
The new profile customization feature brings WhatsApp closer to other social platforms that already support cover images, allowing users to express themselves and identify on the messaging platform. Currently, the feature remains in testing on the iOS TestFlight beta program, with no official release date announced.
