WhatsApp Introduces New Feature to Streamline Group Chats

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature designed to filter group chats. This update was revealed in the latest version of the app (2.23.19.7), available through the Google Play Beta Program.

The new feature, as reported by WABetaInfo, aims to provide users with greater control over their chats, making it easier to manage and prioritize messages. Although still under development, the latest beta update offers a sneak peek into some significant enhancements.

One of the key changes is the introduction of a filter that allows users to create a list of their group chats, excluding individual conversations. The ‘Personal’ filter has been renamed to ‘Contacts’ to specifically cover individual chats, while the ‘Business’ filter has been removed in this update.

Addressing user demands for a more convenient way to manage and organize group chats within the app, a new ‘Groups’ tab filter has been introduced. Given that many users belong to multiple groups for work, family, friends, or hobbies, this filter provides quicker access and improved organization.

Currently, this feature is accessible to a select group of WhatsApp beta testers. However, it is expected to become available to a broader audience soon as it undergoes further refinement and polishing.

WhatsApp is also actively developing additional features like email verification and the option to hide IP addresses during calls. In the latest beta version, users can respond to WhatsApp status updates using avatars, further enhancing the app’s capabilities.

As WhatsApp continues to evolve with updates aimed at improving the user experience, users can look forward to more long-awaited features in the future.
