Samsung is bringing AI into the living room with a softer role. According to the company, it will turn Google Photos into its AI TV range, which will turn televisions into large picture frames that display personal memories instead of movies and shows.
Samsung announced in a press release that it would start rolling it out in 2026. The company calls it the first of its kind experience. These TVs will offer Google Photos Memories on the TV screen, and selected stories grouped by people, places, and important moments. You may not have to scroll through your phone, but instead, your trips, birthdays, and family highlights could appear while you sit on the couch.
According to Samsung, the purpose is emotional rather than technical. Kevin Lee, the executive vice president of the Visual Display Business, said the idea is to help families rediscover and relive important moments together. The company is clearly leaning toward nostalgia and connection as the selling point.
Additional features are planned for release after the first launch in 2026. Samsung and Google say that users will gain access to AI creative tools, allowing them to remix pictures, use simple templates, and even transform still images into mini videos. There will also be personalized slideshows grouped by themes like travel or hobbies.
These tools will connect with Samsung’s Vision AI Companion, so photos can surface across the TV experience instead of staying locked in a single app.
If it works as promised, the TV may start to feel less like a screen for streaming and more like part of the family photo wall.
