Pakistani TV Host and Influencer Mathira Addresses Viral Video Scandal

The spread of private videos, many of which are fake or a product of AI, has been one of the most distressing developments in recent years. These videos are attacks against individuals and illustrate the weakness of online privacy and ethics in the digital space.

Popular Pakistani TV host and influencer Mathira is the latest victim of this trend, as she has flatly denied accusations against her in a leaked video she claims was meant to make her look bad.

Mathira Responed Against Fake Content

Social media persona Mathira took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her disappointment and anger over who can misuse her identity. She firmly denied being the person in the video and condemned the users spreading the fake clip, saying:

Notwithstanding her denial, the viral spread of these unverified clips has certainly done damage. It’s yet another reminder of lawmakers’ struggle to protect public figures’ digital reputations in the digital age.

Mathira Viral Video Scandal

It is not the first time such character assassination attempts have targeted Mathira as a victim. Minahil Malik and Imsha Rehman have been targeted on social media, and their world media videos have been shared widely online.

Many of these are later shown to be deepfakes or AI-generated content, but the damage is often irreversible to the victim’s already-established reputation. Here, these incidents show how women, in particular, are at the receiving end of both harassment and then public judgment and exclusion.
