A major scandal broke out on the Internet when the alleged private video of Bengali social media influencers Sofik SK and Dustu Sonali was leaked to several sources. The video went viral, sparking heated debates within social media communities.
Soon after the incident went viral, both influencers uploaded clarification videos on their respective Instagram accounts, stating that the leak did not originate from them. Rather, they claimed that the video was captured and shared without their consent by someone they personally trusted.
Sofik SK is a Bengali content creator known for his short videos and dance clips. He currently has more than half a million followers on Instagram. His content mostly includes collaborative videos with his partner, Dustu Sonali.
On Instagram, Dustu Sonali identifies herself as an artist. She has more than 312,000 followers and has created over 130 posts. She regularly appears in reels and content published by Sofik SK.
Both creators posted on their Instagram accounts that one of their friends they trusted had accessed their phones and stolen the private video, and later misused it. They claimed that the video was recorded during a private moment and was not to be shown to anyone.
Dustu also stated that she has already reported the case to cybercrime authorities and that she will sue them in the event of any further development of the situation. She also shared that the viral spread of the video has affected her personal life.
Sofik SK said in his statement
“Even I did not have this video. My girlfriend had it. We trusted a friend with our phones, who knew our passwords. He took the video and later used it to blackmail us. When I stopped contact, the clip was posted online. I considered him a brother, but he betrayed that trust.”
