Mutton Paya (Goat) Recipe – Mutton Paya (Goat) is one of Pakistan’s most popular dishes. It is very nutritious and is mostly consumed during the winter season. Mutton Paya is one of the most famous meals in Lahore, but it has spread throughout Pakistan. In some parts of Pakistan, Mutton Paya (goat) is also known as ‘Phajjay Ke Paye’. Goat trotters, onions, ginger garlic mixture, red chilli powder, coriander powder, tomatoes, green chile, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, whole grain flour, and Garam Masala powder are used to make Mutton Paya. During the winter season, mothers can make Mutton Paya (goat) recipe as it can be the best item to have to combat the chilly weather.

Ingredients

  1. Paya Goat – 12
  2. Onions- 4
  3. Oil- 2 tbsp
  4. Ginger garlic paste-4 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  6. Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  7. Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  8. Green chilly- 2
  9. Tomato- 1
  10. Ghee (clarified butter)-2 tsp
  11. Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  12. Fenugreek seeds- ½ tsp
  13. Whole Wheat Flour- 2 tbsp
  14. Garam masala pdr- 11/2 tsp
  15. Salt to taste

Method

  • 1) Heat oil in a cooker. Add onions and fry well. Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and washed paya. Fry well for 15- 20 mins. Add green chilly, tomato , salt and
  • 2) 1 ½ litre water. After 1 whistle lower flame and cook for 1 hr.
  • 3) In a big pan heat ghee(clarified butter). Add Cumin seeds, Fenugreek seeds, ginger garlic paste, 1tsp Red Chilli powder, 1 tsp Coriander powder and Wheat Flour. Fry till you get a good smell. Add paya mix and boil. Add garam masala and boil. Serve hot with sheermal/ Arabic bread/ par, roti, garnished with coriander leaves.
