The highly anticipated next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series finally received its first trailer reveal this week.
Alongside a look at the new protagonists and Vice City setting, the fictional location where GTA 6 takes place was also confirmed – the state of Leonida.
Leonida is a Miami-inspired region that encompasses the neon lights of Vice City and the surrounding areas. Rockstar Games described it as the “biggest, most immersive evolution” of the GTA series yet in an official press release.
Players can expect to explore Vice City downtown, the beaches, the airport, the port, and small towns across Leonida County.
The trailer and accompanying press release gave some insight into Leonida’s current culture. Social media influencers, gangsters, hillbillies, and more seem to populate the streets.
In-game apps similar to TikTok and Instagram will make appearances. The city will also feature live streaming and other satirical takes on modern tech.
While story details remain mostly under wraps, the revealed information paints Leonida as a scathing reflection of today’s cultural scrutiny and crime rates.
With the vast open world of Vice City and beyond to explore, GTA fans eagerly await immersing themselves in this fictional slice of modern America when the game launches in 2025.
