Spotify is making music more social. The streaming giant has launched two new exciting features in its in-app Messages: Listening Activity and Request to Jam.
Listening Activity allows you to share what you are listening to right now. Your friends can view what music you are listening to or your recently played song. You control who sees it, and a tap lets friends play your song, add it to their library, or react with emojis without leaving the chat.
Request to Jam feature takes it further. Premium users can invite their friends to live Jam sessions, listen together, add music to the same queue, and chat in sync. Free users can also join if invited, but the sessions expire if not accepted quickly.
Both features are rolling out in early February 2026 for iOS and Android. Listening Activity is available to everyone, while Request to Jam requires a Spotify Premium to start a session.
Spotify is focused on making music experiences easy to share. Whether finding new songs or enjoying favorites together, these updates bring friends closer without leaving the app.
