Many marketing and promotional emails have embedded tracking pixels, small, invisible images that silently notify the sender when you open a message. These pixels can reveal your IP address, approximate location, and even the time you opened the email. While this practice is common, it is a silent but dangerous threat to your privacy.
Fortunately, iPhone users do not need to accept this intrusion. Apple has introduced a privacy feature known as Mail Privacy Protection in the Mail app that stops pixels used to track the activity of the senders. Once enabled, it allows you to read your emails without revealing personal data.
How to Enable Mail Privacy Protection on iPhone
That’s it. From now on, the pixel tracking you have on your emails will not work anymore.
Why you should enable it
Another small but powerful step to regain your online privacy is activating Mail Privacy Protection. It works in the background, hence you do not need to worry about it when it is turned on.
Note that this feature blocks tracking pixels, but it does not protect you from malicious links or phishing attempts. Never be too quick to open attachments or click on links from unknown senders.
