Apple has confirmed a major upgrade for Siri that could change how the voice assistant works day to day. The company is integrating Google’s Gemini AI models into Siri, while also using Google Cloud infrastructure to help develop its own core AI systems. The move signals Apple’s push to make Siri more useful, more conversational, and less dependent on simple web search results.
According to Apple, Gemini models will not only run on the device but also on its Private Cloud Compute system, with user privacy being the focus of the experience. While Apple does not share much technical information, reports suggest the company will have control over how Gemini behaves, including being able to request changes or to customize the models on its own.
Early internal testing shows that Siri does not mention Google or Gemini in its responses. The assistant provides direct answers, focusing on general knowledge and daily questions instead of sending users to links and external sources. Apple can continue to make changes closer to launch, but the goal appears to be a seamless, Apple-first experience.

The upgraded Siri will also become more natural and emotionally aware beyond smarter responses. Reports suggest improved conversational flow and more empathetic responses when users ask sensitive or unclear questions. Instead of defaulting to error messages, Siri will attempt to interpret intent and provide a helpful reply.
Apple has not announced a fixed release date for the new Siri. The rollout is expected in phases, with some features likely previewed at WWDC 2026 and wider availability expanding into spring 2027.
