Gemini Notebook Could Soon Let You Build Interactive Apps

Google is testing a new feature inside Gemini Notebook that could let users turn their study material into working apps, according to a report by TestingCatalog.

The site spotted a tile labelled “App” sitting inside the Studio panel of Gemini Notebook, next to other still-unreleased tools like Canvas and Lit Review. Based on the description shown there, the feature would generate an interactive application built entirely from whatever sources a user has uploaded to that notebook.

The idea is fairly open-ended. A user could type a prompt asking for a visual dashboard, a study aid, or even a small game, all built from their own notes, PDFs, or other source material sitting inside that notebook. Type the request, hit generate, and the app gets built.

Google has not said when this rolls out to the public, and there’s no confirmation yet on whether it’ll be limited to paying subscribers.

This isn’t the only thing Google appears to be testing behind the scenes. Two other features tied to notes have also shown up during testing. One lets users create a note manually from scratch. The other uses AI to automatically pull notes from whatever material is already in the notebook.

A watermark toggle has also surfaced somewhere in testing. What it actually controls isn’t fully clear yet. However, it seems tied to remove or keep Google’s branding on exported content, things like slide decks, videos, or infographics generated inside the tool.

Gemini Notebook was called NotebookLM before Google renamed it last month. Since then, the company has been steadily pushing it toward being less of a simple research tool and more of an all-in-one content generator: audio overviews, video overviews, infographics, flashcards, and now, potentially, working apps.

None of these features, the App generator, the note tools, or the watermark setting- are available to users right now. Google has stayed quiet on rollout timing for all three.
