The administration of Islamabad has announced a two-month ban on the use of drone cameras. This decision has been taken due to security concerns and is expected to be strictly enforced across the city.
The notification regarding this prohibition was issued by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon. The ban has been imposed under Section 144, a law that empowers local authorities to issue orders in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger.
Memon has instructed all assistant commissioners, magistrates, and the Islamabad Police to ensure the strict implementation of this ban. Any violation of this directive could potentially lead to legal consequences.
In addition to the drone camera ban, the deputy commissioner has also prohibited pavilion riding in the city until Muharram 10, again citing security reasons. The holy month of Muharram, which marks the beginning of the new Islamic year, started on Thursday, July 20. Youm-e-Ashur (Day of Ashura), a significant day in the month of Muharram, will be observed on July 29.
This move comes as part of a broader effort by the city administration to enhance security measures and maintain public order. It reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens during important religious observances and other public events.
It is important to note that these bans are temporary and specific to the city of Islamabad. They will be reviewed after the specified period, taking into consideration the prevailing security situation at that time.
