OpenAI might be preparing to launch one of its largest ChatGPT upgrades to date. According to the latest leaks of well-known AI explorers, Tibor Blaho and TestingCatalog, ChatGPT is testing support of third-party apps, AI agent workflows, and an improved image generation model, all within the chatbot interface.
Blaho shared screenshots on X showing a new Apps section in ChatGPT, complete with listings for services like Instacart, Gmail, and Expedia. The interface looks similar to a mobile app store interface, featuring detailed app pages, screenshots, description and a Connect button connecting accounts to ChatGPT to be more integrated.
But apps are not the only feature coming. TestingCatalog found that ChatGPT will soon allow developers to publish AI agent workflows built using OpenAI’s Agent Builder tool. A feature codenamed Hermes will reportedly let creators to develop automated AI agents, publish them and give them unique URLs and make them available to anyone to use directly within ChatGPT. These workflows will also have image generation features and Open AI may unveil a new image generation model alongside them.
ChatGPT’s current 4o image generator was a highlight earlier this year, but it seems that with the popularity of Google’s Nano Banana, users likely to see an upgrade.
OpenAI has not confirmed release dates, with the leaked screenshots suggest the update is highly tested. TestingCatalog believes that these features could be released in a December launch event, similar to last year’s “12 Days of OpenAI” holiday reveal series.
If launched, the upgrade would turn ChatGPT into a powerful platform where apps, agents, and workflows, pushing it way beyond a traditional AI chatbot.
