UAE Announced Updated Work Permit Fees for Pakistani Freelancers

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently updated its work permit fees for Pakistani freelancers. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE announced the changes on October 28th, 2023.

MoHRE issues a total of 12 different types of work permits in Lahore, with variations based on factors such as job type and employee age. These permits are essential for MoHRE-registered establishments to legally hire employees.

According to Article 6 of the UAE Labor Law, Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021, it is illegal for anyone to work in the UAE without a valid work permit obtained through MoHRE’s established procedures.

Among the various types of work permits issued by MoHRE, there is a specific permit for freelancers. This permit is available to self-sponsored foreigners residing in the UAE, allowing them to offer services or perform tasks for individuals or companies without needing sponsorship from a specific employer or an employment contract.

Pakistani freelancers interested in working in the UAE can now obtain a two-year work permit. However, they must hold a valid residence visa as a prerequisite for application. The fee for this two-year freelance work permit has been set at AED250, as indicated on the official website.

This update is significant for Pakistani freelancers looking to expand their opportunities and work in the UAE. It provides them with a clear understanding of the legal requirements and costs associated with obtaining a work permit, thereby facilitating their transition into the UAE’s job market.
