Supreme Court Announces Winter Vacation

Supreme Court of Pakistan has officially announced its winter vacation schedule, after Lahore High Court (LHC). The apex court’s winter recess will commence on December 18, 2023, and the court will resume its regular operations on January 1, 2024.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa approved the vacation schedule, ensuring that the judiciary’s highest institution observes a brief hiatus during winter.

Despite the court being closed for regular proceedings, the notification clarified that the Supreme Court’s offices would remain operational throughout the vacation period, excluding public holidays.

The announcement highlighted that urgent matters would not be left unattended. The Supreme Court will continue to hear urgent cases, date-by-court cases, criminal cases, and any other cases as directed by the committee.

The scheduling of winter vacations by both the Supreme Court and the Lahore High Court aligns with the broader pattern of seasonal breaks observed across various sectors in Pakistan.

Educational institutions in the province have also been granted winter holidays by the provincial caretaker government, from December 18, 2023, until January 1, 2024.
