KARACHI: The Sindh government announced on Friday the opening of Peoples Bus Service (PBS) on Lyari Expressway to offer transportation to the people of Karachi.
Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon made the announcement while chairing a transportation-related meeting in Karachi.
Initially, the province government will conduct a survey for the Peoples Bus Service test drive on the Lyari Expressway. The Sindh minister has asked transport authorities to provide a report on the bus survey and test drive by June 11.
“The launch of bus service on the Lyari Expressway will reduce traffic on other Karachi roads,” Memon stated during the meeting. He stated that the Sindh government, led by the PPP, was working continually to address Karachi’s transportation challenges.
Sindh Transport & Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon urged agencies on Thursday to complete the Peoples Bus Service mobile app development as soon as possible.
The minister delivered these directions while presiding over a transportation department meeting in this city.
The minister was briefed on the operation of the bus service, its new routes, the ITS, and the development of a command and control room during the meeting.
The transport minister also mandated that the intelligent transportation system (ITS) be activated in all of the service’s buses.
