Instagram Reels may be addictive because you could not go on watching it, and had to choose a different app instead, and lose the video. That changes with Instagram’s new Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, allows the user to watch Reels in their own floating video window while multitasking on their phone.
Instagram is now turning Reels into a more flexible and comfortable viewing experience by allowing users to continue scrolling, chatting, or browsing without interruption. It is also similar to the floating window on YouTube and introduces a true multitasking experience to Reels.
How to enable Picture-in-Picture for Instagram Reels
Here’s a step-by-step guide to activate the feature.
- Open Instagram app.
- Tap the Reels icon from the bottom navigation bar.
- Select any Reel and tap on the three-dot menu on the right side.
- Turn on the “Picture in picture” toggle.
- Now, you can return to your home screen or switch to another app.
That’s it. The Reel will run in the background as you respond to messages, read emails, or scroll through other applications.
Instagram Picture-in-Picture on Reels is now rolling out. If you do not see the option yet, update your app to the latest version.
