How to Stop Receiving Posts From Friends on Facebook

Facebook allows users to publish and share status updates, images, and links. Some users take advantage of this popular feature by often updating their statuses with agonizing, up-to-the-minute information. This might block your news stream with stuff you’d prefer to avoid. Rather than removing such friends from your Facebook friends list, consider a warmer approach. Facebook allows you to hide all posts from select friends while still keeping these individuals on your friend list.

Stop Receiving Posts From Friends on Facebook

  1. Login to your Facebook account. Your home page displays, with your news feed shown.
  2. Scroll through your news feed to find a post from a friend you no longer want to see.
  3. Move your cursor over the post. To the right of the post, a downward-pointing arrow appears.
  4. To open the list of options, click the downward-pointing arrow.
  5. Select “Unsubscribe from…” from the menu. The post disappears, and a notification appears informing you that the friend’s postings will no longer display in your news feed.
