How Many Surahs in Quran

The Quran has 114 Surahs, which are further classified into two categories: Makki Surahs and Madni Surahs. All Surahs of the Quran are not the same length; some are long and others are short, and they were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at different times by angel Jibreel Alaihissalam. The longest Surah of the Quran is Surah Al Baqarah, which includes 286 verses, while the shortest is Al-Kawthar, which has only three verses.

Surahs are the chapters of the Quran. There are 86 Makki Surahs and 28 Madni Surahs among the 114 Surahs or chapters in the Quran. The total number of verses in the Quran is 6666. Every Surah of the Quran is equally important and has deep value, but Surah Yaseen, with 5 Rukus and 83 verses, is considered the heart of the Quran. Every Surah or chapter begins with Bismillah, yet Surah Tauba is the only Surah in the Quran that does not.
