Google Photos has rolled out a major update that introduces its powerful Veo 3 AI video generation model into the app. The upgrade enhances the recently launched Create tab, allowing users to get high-quality photo-to-video edits and many new AI-powered editing tools.
Previously, the feature used Veo 2, an older Google AI video model. Veo 3 is now integrated, so users can expect sharper and more natural-looking clips when animating still images. You can find this tool under the Create tab in Google Photos, and it offers two easy options to make their photos lifelike. Unlike Gemini, where users can type in some text prompts to get detailed animations, the Google Photos version is simple and easy to use.
Google has noted that free users will only get a limited number of photo-to-video generations, while Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers will enjoy a higher usage limit. The updated Create tab is currently available in the U.S.
Other AI Editing Features in Google Photos
Photo-to-video editing is not the only feature of the new Create tab. Google has packed several AI-powered features into it to provide users with creative flexibility
Remix – reimagine photos in anime, sketch, comic, or 3D styles.
Collage – combine multiple photos into one layout with filters and brightness controls.
Highlight – create short videos from themed photos and clips, complete with music.
Cinematic Photos – add a 3D effect to images for dynamic visuals.
Animations – turn multiple still photos into GIFs.
All these features make Google Photos not just a storage platform, but a powerful AI editing tool that is suitable for both regular users and content creators.
