Anthropic’s Claude AI Can Now Create and Deliver Files for Users

Anthropic has launched a new feature of its Claude AI chatbot that takes productivity to the next level. Starting Tuesday, Claude is now able to create downloadable files based on user prompts, including PDFs, Microsoft Word files, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. These documents are completely compatible with Google Drive and Google Docs.

The feature will work with Claude Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, and Claude Pro will be supported in the next few weeks. According to Anthropic’s official blog post, Claude works within a secure computing environment where it can write code and execute the programs to generate the files and analyses you require.

Users can now upload files during a chat with Claude and then request the AI to extract data, analyze it, or create specific documents depending on their needs. They can be in the form of business reports, financial spreadsheets, or even presentation slides created directly from the uploaded materials.

How to Enable File Creation in Claude

Users with eligible subscriptions can turn on the feature.

Go to Settings > Features > Experimental > Upgraded file creation and analysis.

Once enabled, users can just upload files and provide instructions in their prompt. Claude will then analyse the data and provide editable and downloadable documents in the requested format.

While the feature provides time-saving benefits, Anthropic warns users that Claude needs internet access to make and analyse files, which can be a data security risk. A new support document provides safety tips on how users can protect their information. The company also recommends starting with simple tasks before moving to more complex file requests.
