YouTube Launches New Generative AI Tools for Shorts Creators

YouTube is also investing more in artificial intelligence with an additional line of generative AI tools available to Shorts creators, unveiled in its Made on YouTube live event. The best part is Veo 3 Fast, the streamlined version of the Google text-to-video model that provides a faster output at 480p and, for the first time, includes sound support.

Alongside Veo 3 Fast, YouTube is also launching new AI-powered features, like remixing tools and an Edit with AI button, making it easier and faster to create content directly within the platform. It is rolled out in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with more regions set to follow soon.

Veo 3 Fast: Creative AI for Shorts

Veo’s expansion on Shorts comes with powerful new creative capabilities. One standout feature allows the user to transfer motion from videos to images, making it possible to animate still pictures, like converting a portrait into a dancing video.

Creators can also apply visual styles like pop art or origami, and add objects like props or characters by typing text prompts. The new updates are expected to roll out in the next few months.

Speech to Song: Turning Dialogue Into Music

A second tool that catches the eye is Speech to Song, which turns dialogue in eligible videos into musical tracks in Shorts. The work, Powered by Google’s AI music model Lyria 2, allows creators to remix text into soundtracks with customizable moods like chill, danceable, or fun. According to YouTube, this feature is in the test phase and will be available to more creators in the United States in the coming weeks.

Edit with AI: Polished Videos in Minutes

YouTube is also testing an Edit with AI that converts raw footage into a polished draft. The AI can automatically identify the best clips, background music, transitions, and even voice-over narration that reacts to video content in English or Hindi. Initially, this feature will be available to Shorts and the YouTube Create app, as it will provide creators a strong starting point and will expand to other regions soon.
