Kiran Khatri, a citizen of Mithi in Sindh’s Tharparkar district, has made history by entering the inland revenue service after completing the Central Superior Service (CSS) examination.
In her own words, she is the first woman from Thar to pass the examination and the only Hindu girl from Tharparkar to do so. She is the third Hindu girl in Sindh to reach this incredible milestone.
Kiran had originally planned to join the police force, but she was instead chosen for the inland revenue sector. Her training will begin in October, and she is looking forward to the significant duties that will come with her new position.
Kiran earned her MBBS in 2020 from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro. Following that, in 2021, she began her home employment at Civil Hospital in Hyderabad. She then became a lecturer at Indus Medical College in Tando Mohammad Khan.
Kiran became painfully aware of the difficulties experienced by doctors while working at home, which motivated her to study for the CSS test. Kiran studied hard at home in Mithi, with the help of her father, a deputy director in the education department, as well as online lessons available on YouTube.
Kiran used social media by curating her accounts to only post CSS-related stuff. She is grateful to her parents for their support during her adventure.
Tharparkar, Sindh’s biggest district in terms of land, has a population of 1.6 million people, with Hindus constituting around half of the population. Hindus account for over 30% of the medical workforce in Sindh’s health department, including a considerable number of female doctors.
