Recently, the people of Pakistan were given two public holidays to observe Youm-e-Ashurah, namely Muharram 9 and 10, to honor the supreme sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Husain and his companions in Karbala.
The federal government clarified the public and optional holidays list in December 2023. The notification contained certain information regarding holidays for festivals of Muslims and minorities.
Public holidays are declared to celebrate specific events throughout any given year. According to the newly issued public holiday notification for the Calendar Year 2024, there is no holiday in July 2024 in Pakistan.
Public Holiday in Pakistan Next Month
Independence Day will be celebrated in all four provinces of Pakistan in August 2024. Depending on the event, the government will declare a public holiday on August 14.
It marks the day Pakistan gained independence and was declared a separate country when the British left the subcontinent in August 1947.
