Toyota to Launch 10 New EVs in Next 3 Years

Koji Sato, Toyota President, and CEO promised to pursue electrification “practically” within a week in his first public statement.

The Japanese company announced at the end of January that Sato will succeed Akio Toyoda as CEO on April 1. Toyoda introduced 16 electric vehicles (EVs) in December 2021, which will soon adopt physical and functional shapes.

Toyota Vice President Hiroki Nakajima stated that the firm will release ten all-electric vehicles by 2026.

Toyota would establish a separate unit to develop next-generation EVs, overseen by a single person with “complete power” over development, production, and business, he added. He also stated that the head of this team has been picked and would be disclosed next month.

Toyota believes that building the battery-electric bZ4X taught it “a lot,” including how to improve EV performance, drivability, and battery management, as well as how to restructure its company.

Sato stated in February that Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand, will produce a next-generation battery-electric car by 2026. According to the article, the firm would release two additional domestically produced models in China next year.

Toyota SVP of Business Strategy Yoichi Miyazaki told Nikkei Asia that the business is “on track” to sell 3.5 million electric vehicles by 2030. While supplying hybrids and plug-in hybrids, it would “attentively respond in each location to promote the usage of as many battery EVs as feasible.”
