The Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced plans to renovate and expand the saints’ shrines in the region. The initiative was discussed during a meeting held at the CM Office, where it was decided that an online donation portal would be established to facilitate contributions towards this cause.
The task of developing the portal has been assigned to the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The portal will feature a variety of online payment options, designed to cater to individuals residing abroad who wish to make donations. These contributions can range from food offerings to garlands for the shrines.
In addition to the establishment of the online portal, the CM has also instructed for improvements to be made to the entry and exit points of the shrines. To enhance the visitor experience, a dedicated waiting area and parking facility will be developed near Baba Bulleh Shah’s shrine.
Moreover, the CM has directed for the commencement of renovation and expansion works at Shah Shams Tabrez’s shrine in Multan. The importance of preserving historical significance has been emphasized by the CM, who has called for a comprehensive plan for the renovation and restoration of the Chiniot Shahi Mosque.
The CM has also expressed the need to maintain the mosque’s original state while safeguarding its historical value. In line with this, careful consideration is being given to the proposal of restoring Ustad Daman’s house in the walled city.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to preserving and enhancing the cultural heritage of Punjab. By leveraging technology through the online donation portal, the government aims to engage the global community in its efforts to improve and preserve these significant historical sites.
