The Punjab government has announced an increase in the travel and daily allowances of its employees. This decision is expected to benefit many government workers across various grades.
For employees in grades 1 to 4, and grades 5 to 11, their daily allowance has been increased by Rs. 400. Meanwhile, employees from grades 12 to 16 will now receive Rs. 2,160 as their daily allowance, a significant rise from the previous amount of Rs. 1,440.
The allowances for higher-grade officers have also seen a substantial increase. Grade 17 and 18 officers’ allowance has been raised to Rs. 3,840. Similarly, grade 19 and 20 employees will now receive an increased allowance of Rs. 4,920. The highest increase has been granted to grade 22 officers, whose allowance has been boosted from Rs. 4,800 to Rs. 7,200.
In addition to the daily allowances, the Punjab government has also enhanced the traveling allowance for its employees.
The rate per kilometer for public transport has been increased from Rs. 5 to Rs. 7.5. For those using personal vehicles, the rate has been raised from Rs. 10 to Rs. 15 per kilometer.
This decision comes as a welcome relief for government employees in the province, who have been grappling with the economic challenges posed by the financial crisis.
Despite the economic constraints, the Punjab government’s move to enhance allowances demonstrates its commitment to ensuring the welfare of its employees.
