Crunchyroll is currently one of the leading anime streaming platforms in the world. It has many anime TV shows and movies ranging from classics to the latest releases like Chainsaw Man. However, if you’ve decided not to use Crunchyroll, we’ve got you covered.
Delete your Crunchyroll account
If you don’t know where to start, we’ll walk you through how to deactivate/delete your Crunchyroll account in this tutorial. We’ve also added a section for users who wish to delete someone else’s account in the event of death. That said, let’s look at the steps:
How to cancel your Crunchyroll subscription
Before you can deactivate (read delete, explained below) your Crunchyroll account, the streaming platform reminds you to cancel your active subscription. When you visit the account deactivation page for Crunchyroll, you will get a prompt asking you to cancel any recurring subscriptions.
Then check out our guide to how to cancel your Crunchyroll subscription and cancel it hassle-free. You would have gone through this process if you had stopped using the platform some time ago. Well, just after canceling your subscription, you can follow the steps to delete your account.
Delete your Crunchyroll account
Before detailing the process of deleting your account, we would like to explain one confusing thing: Crunchyroll doesn’t have a dedicated “Delete Account” option in the settings or anywhere on its website.
However, the streaming company offers an “Account deactivation” page that, well, does not deactivate your account. Instead, it deletes it forever. If you follow the instructions below to deactivate your Crunchyroll account, it will not be reactivated again. Your account will be gone forever, so only read on if you decide.
With that out of the way, follow these steps to delete your Crunchyroll account on your Windows, macOS, or Linux desktop or laptop computer:
1. Go to the Crunchyroll website and log in with your credentials. Then, use the link here to go to the Crunchyroll account deactivation page. You won’t be able to access this page anywhere in the settings, so you’ll have to rely on the link we’ve attached.
2. You can choose one of the listed reasons for deactivating your account and enter any additional reasons in the field below. Next, type your password for confirmation before clicking “Deactivate now” button.
3. After clicking on the deactivation button, a pop-up window will appear, asking for final confirmation to delete your account. The message reminds you that “you cannot CANCEL this!” Once you click OK, your Crunchyroll account will be deleted.
4. When your process is complete, you will see a notification at the top of the homepage that says, “Your account has been deleted.” Yes, the account was deleted, not deactivated, as the support page might lead you to believe.
Delete a deceased person’s Crunchyroll account
Although closing a Crunchyroll account is not easy, it is not the most difficult either. So, if you are responsible for someone’s digital legacy after they pass away, follow the steps above to delete their Crunchyroll account if you have their login credentials.
On the other hand, if you don’t have the deceased person’s login credentials, you should contact the Crunchyroll support team using this Link “Contact page” and explain your situation to them.
Select “Membership” as the issue, enter your email address, and put “Account deletion request” or “Account deletion request” in the Subject section. Next, type your application, and don’t forget to include the deceased user’s email address. The Crunchyroll support team will assist you in immediately and permanently deleting the account and all associated data.
To close this section, we remind you that it is important to delete the online accounts of a deceased person to prevent identity theft and protect their accounts from hackers.
