PCB Announces Squad for Afghanistan Series and Asia Cup 2023
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the national team’s lineup for the upcoming One-Day International series against Afghanistan and the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2023. The announcement was made by Inzamam-ul-Haq, the chief selector of the national cricket team.
The 18-member squad is set to face Afghanistan in a three-game series in Sri Lanka from August 22 to 26. Following this, the team will participate in the Asia Cup, which commences on August 30. Pakistan’s first match in the tournament will be against Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The squad includes Babar Azam as captain, along with Fakhar, M Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafique, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam Ul Haq, M Haris, M Wasim Jr, Saud Shakeel, Naseem Shah, Agha Salman, Shaheen Afridi, Tayyab Tahir, and Usama Mir.
Saud Shakeel, who has been selected only for the Afghanistan ODIs, could potentially be added to the Asia Cup squad if required. Faheem Ashraf was chosen over Zaman Khan at the last minute due to his all-rounder capabilities.
