Pakistan Announces Squad for Junior Asia Cup 2023
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has named an 18-man roster for the Junior Asia Cup 2023, which will be held in Oman from May 23 to June 1.
The squad was decided before being sent to PHF for approval by the selection committee, which was chaired by Olympian Nasir Ali and included Rahim Khan, Shakeel Abbasi, and Kalemullah Khan.
According to the announced squad, Mohammad Abdullah will lead the Men in Green in the tournament, with up to six players on standby.
It is worth noting that the Junior Asia Cup will include a total of ten teams separated into two pools.
Powerhouses such as Pakistan, India, Japan, Thailand, China, and Thailand are in Pool A, while Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan are in Pool B.
Pakistan will begin their campaign against Chinese Taipei on May 23. Their next come-across is against Thailand on May 24, followed by India on May 27 and Japan on May 29.
The PHF chose Roelant Oltmans, a Netherlands-born coach who previously worked with the Pakistan Men’s Hockey Team, as the Junior Asia Cup 2023 coach last week.
