The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) has announced new working hours for passport offices across Pakistan. The change in schedule comes into effect immediately and will continue until further notice.
The DGI&P office will now be operational from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM from Monday to Friday. During this period, employees will be given a half-hour break for lunch and prayers from 01:00 PM to 01:30 PM.
Meanwhile, regional passport offices, executive passport offices, and service counters have also seen a change in their working hours. These offices will now process passport applications and deliver passports from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM from Monday to Thursday. However, on Fridays, these offices will only remain open from 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
This announcement comes at a time when passport offices across the country are grappling with a shortage of lamination paper, leading to a backlog of unprinted passports reaching up to 700,000.
An official from the DGI&P has assured that the lamination paper is expected to arrive soon and the printing of passports will be carried out even on weekends to ensure timely delivery of travel documents.
The revised timings are part of the new winter schedule and are expected to streamline the operations of passport offices across the country. The public is advised to take note of these changes to avoid any inconvenience.
