The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) of Pakistan has declared a substantial increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The announcement made on Wednesday revealed that the cost of LPG has risen by Rs 10 per kilogram, bringing the new price to Rs240 per kilogram.
This price hike also affects the cost of home and commercial LPG cylinders. The price of a home LPG cylinder has been raised to Rs2,830, while the cost of a commercial cylinder has surged to Rs10,900. In remote and mountainous regions, the LPG price has escalated to Rs370 per kg, with the price of a home LPG cylinder now standing at Rs4,130.
Irfan Khokar expressed his disappointment over the government and OGRA’s lack of action against the illegal selling of LPG across the country.
He stated that the gas was not available to the public at the government price. In response to this situation, Khokar announced a protest on August 5 and 6, during which the gas supply would be suspended from Khyber to Karachi.
