ISLAMABAD – After a four-month-long detention, renowned Pakistani journalist and political commentator Imran Riaz Khan has safely returned home. The news was confirmed by Sialkot police and his legal representative on September 25, 2023.
Imran Riaz Khan is a popular figure on YouTube with millions of followers has been missing from the public eye since May 2023. His disappearance coincided with violent protests that erupted across Pakistan following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, whom Riaz Khan is known to support staunchly.
The outspoken journalist was detained by officials in plain clothes and taken to Cantt police station shortly after the protests began. His safe return home comes days after the Lahore High Court issued a final warning to the Punjab IGP to locate the missing anchorperson.
An FIR had been lodged under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code for his alleged disappearance. Since 2020, Imran Riaz Khan has gained significant attention on social and digital media platforms for his bold and blunt analysis and reporting style.
