Honhaar scholarship: Maryam Nawaz distributes cheques among students

Pakistan’s largest initiative to help students achieve their academic dreams, the Honhaar Scholarship Program, is being launched by Maryam Nawaz. Speaking at Sargodha University, she paid homage to the program’s transformative potential, with the caveat that it’s only motivated by merit and opportunities for all.

At the ceremony, Maryam Nawaz presented cheques to scholarship beneficiaries, praising the resilience and dedication of the students, parents, and educators. She also commended the work of many students who conquered such challenges and advised them to be excited about their success.

She confirmed that this scholarship is your right. “Take it; hold your heads high.” She asked students to pass along her congratulations to their families who contributed to these successes.

Maryam Nawaz said the scholarship program was transparent and merit-based, not politics-based. She said: ‘Not a single scholarship out of 30,000 has been given through recommendations or connections.’

‘But, she stressed that she was firm in treating students from any background or political ties equally. Her involvement in their future was very personal, and she saw herself as a mother to all students of Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz expressed concern about financial barriers to education, focusing on the divide between privileged and underprivileged students. ‘There shouldn’t be any child who misses out on their education due to the lack of resources,’ she added.

Plans were outlined to raise education in advanced fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, and technology and scholarships were announced for second and third-year students to encourage them on their academic journey.

Maryam Nawaz looked ahead and promised technologically advanced computers and eco-friendly e-bikes to students who would continue to fight in the modern world.

Chief Minister asked the students to make Pakistan a peaceful and progressive country. She condemned the violence and reminded students that law enforcement kept the peace.
