The domestic car industry has had a turbulent year in 2023. A number of factors have evolved in an unending wave of price increases.
The price increases were initially triggered by the PKR’s huge fall against the USD. Eventually, the federal government imposed massive GSTs on the automobile industry, resulting in yet another round of price increases.
Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) recently increased the pricing of all Haval H6 SUV variants by a large margin. The following new pricing are effective immediately:
Model | Old Price (Rs.) | New Price (Rs.) | Increase (Rs.) |
Haval H6 1.5T FWD | 8,999,000 | 9,499,000 | 500,000 |
Haval H6 2.0T AWD | 10,349,000 | 10,859,000 | 500,000 |
Haval H6 HEV | 11,695,000 | 12,149,000 | 454,000 |
SEWL raised the cost of all Haval H6 SUV models by up to Rs. 600,000 last month. SEWL observed previously a production shutdown in February, claiming insufficient inventories. However, production was started in early March.
SEWL is experiencing the same global recession as the rest of the auto industry. Despite only making and selling crossover and off-road SUVs, the corporation has increased prices dramatically, which may lead to a further drop in demand, as seen by the current figures, despite only producing and marketing crossover and off-road SUVs.
According to AutoXInfinity, SEWL had a 64.3% drop in Haval sales in March 2023. SEWL sold only 100 units last month, compared to 280 in February. Since the company began building CKDs locally, SEWL has sold 1,238 units.
