Balochistan government has officially launched the much-anticipated inter-city Green Bus service in Quetta. This initiative is set to provide high-quality transportation services to the city’s residents.
Dr. Faisal Khan, CEO of Balochistan Public Private Partnership, expressed his enthusiasm about the inauguration, stating that this is the first time such a service has been introduced in Balochistan’s history.
The pilot project comprises eight buses that will operate on multiple routes within the city. These include Airport Road, Zarghoon Road, Sariab Road, and the route to Balochistan University.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the government to modernize public transportation and encourage environmentally friendly travel options. The project was approved during the tenure of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan.
The launch of the Green Bus service in Quetta marks a significant turning point in the city’s transportation sector. For the past 30 years, the provincial capital had been relying on an outdated public transportation system with only seven bus routes.
The introduction of the new service is expected to accommodate a larger number of daily commuters, with plans for gradual expansion and the addition of new routes. This development not only enhances the city’s transportation infrastructure but also signifies a step towards sustainable and efficient urban mobility.
