Govt Announces Big Relief for Islamabad and Punjab Car Owners

The number of automobiles registered in Islamabad and Punjab is increasing throughout Pakistan. Given this, the Punjab government has decided to provide help to automobile owners in these areas.

Muhammad Ali, the Director General (DG) of the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department, has implemented a new policy that allows Islamabad-registered automobile owners to use inspection services in Punjab and vice versa.

This will benefit car owners by distributing inspection facilities across several sites, reducing the backlog. This policy’s actual execution and possible obstacles remain to be observed.

The DG further stated that this action was done in accordance with Supreme Court directions. In Punjab and Islamabad, he said, a smartphone application for validating car registration and chassis numbers has been established.

The DG further said,

This initiative is very essential since there are a huge number of automobiles in Punjab with Islamabad numbers and one needs to drive to Islamabad to change the ownership of the vehicle, thus this is a significant relief for residents offered by the government in light of the excessively high gasoline costs.

Physical inspection will be accessible in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur, he said. He went on to say that the necessary personnel had been extensively trained to assure the project’s success.
