Gold prices in Pakistan have witnessed a significant surge. On Monday, the price of gold per tola increased by Rs2,800, closing at Rs225,300. This rise was also reflected in the price of 10 grams of 24 carats gold, which saw an increase of Rs2,143, settling at Rs193,158. These figures were reported by the All-Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA).
Meanwhile, the US dollar continues to strengthen against the Pakistani rupee in the inter-bank market. During intra-day trading on the first working day of the week, the dollar was traded at 288, as the rupee depreciated over Rs1.50. The previous week had seen the rupee suffer consecutive losses against the greenback, settling at 286.81 on Friday.
Across various cities in Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Mirpur, Peshawar, Quetta, Sialkot, Attock, Gujranwala, Jehlum, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Nawabshah, Chakwal, Hyderabad, and Nowshehra, the price of a single tola of 24-karat gold was recorded at Rs223,800. The price of 10 grams of 24k gold was noted at Rs191,880.
