Aleeza Arshad has decided to carry forward her father’s legacy by stepping into the field of journalism. She has joined a private news channel as a reporter, the same platform where her father used to host a show on current affairs.
Aleeza’s decision to pursue journalism has been warmly received by her father’s friends and colleagues, who see it as a fitting tribute to the late Arshad Sharif’s passion for investigative journalism.
Arshad Sharif, a renowned journalist, tragically lost his life in late October 2022 when Kenyan police mistakenly fired at his car on the outskirts of Nairobi. The incident was later regretted by the Nairobi police, who termed it a case of “mistaken identity”. However, the incident sparked widespread condemnation, with some speculating that it was a planned assassination.
In response to the public outcry, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the formation of a joint investigation team to probe into the matter. Additionally, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has appointed a commissioner to oversee the investigation.
While Aleeza embarks on her journalistic journey, she carries with her not just her father’s name but also his commitment to truth and justice. As she steps into this new role, she stands as a symbol of resilience and determination, embodying the spirit of her late father.
