Woman Raped at Gunpoint on Islamabad’s Hiking Trail

In a shocking incident that has shaken the federal capital of Pakistan, a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted near a hiking trail in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills. The victim, a resident of Sheikhupura, lodged a complaint with the Islamabad Capital Territory after allegedly being raped by a man identified as Noman.

According to the victim’s account, she was enticed to the capital city under the pretense of a job opportunity. She claimed to have paid Rs80,000 to the accused, who had promised to secure her a good job. She was expecting to attend a meeting at her office in the following days.

The complaint further detailed the horrifying circumstances of the assault. The accused reportedly deceived the woman into visiting hiking trail-3 in the Margalla Hills, where he proceeded to sexually assault her at gunpoint. In addition to her verbal account, the victim requested a medical examination to substantiate her claims of sexual assault.

The assailant allegedly threatened to shoot the woman if she disclosed the incident to anyone. After the assault, he abandoned her at a bus stop in Rawalpindi.

In response to the complaint, a case has been registered at the Kohsar Police station. The capital’s law enforcement has initiated an investigation into the incident. This appalling event has once again highlighted the urgent need for improved safety measures and stricter laws to protect women in the region.
