Dubai – People in the United Arab Emirates have finally gotten a long holiday to celebrate Eidul Adha, with the Kingdom announcing holidays for the Feast of Sacrifice on Monday.
Human resources and Emiratization in the UAE declared a public paid vacation for private sector employees from June 27 to June 30, and individuals who do not work on weekends would have six days off.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia announced Eid Holidays, which would begin on June 27 for the private and non-profit sectors.
Eidul Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of two important Islamic holidays that coincide with the closing rites of the annual Hajj journey.
Muslims join a special Eid gathering, which is followed by the sacrifice of an animal, often a sheep, goat, or cow. The sacrificed animal’s meat is divided between the family and the needy.
Families also gather to share celebratory meals, exchange greetings and gifts, and take part in several cultural events.
