Twitter has become unavailable in Pakistan, with users claiming difficulty accessing the network through both the web and the mobile application.
The platform went down about 8:00 p.m., hours after protests erupted throughout the country in response to the detention of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
It is worth noting that Twitter’s services can be affected globally at times; however, the present outage appears to be limited to Pakistan. However, no formal statement has been made on the topic by appropriate authorities thus far. However, some reports claim that the move was made for security concerns.
In a related development, mobile internet services in many major cities throughout Pakistan have been affected.
This is a developing story.
