Tesla delivered over 466,000 electric cars (EVs) in China in the second quarter of 2023, surpassing estimates and breaking the company’s previous record.
Tesla manufactured 479,700 EVs in the same quarter, an increase of 86% year on year, and delivered 466,140, an increase of 83%.
Because of its exceptional delivery record, the EV manufacturer has taken the lead in worldwide battery electric vehicle (BEV) deliveries. It has enabled the manufacturer to establish another quarterly record, bringing it closer to its goal of increasing deliveries by 50%.
Over 460,211 Model 3 and Model, Y units were built, with 446,915 deliveries. Tesla’s higher-end Model S and Model X were responsible for 19,489 units produced and 19,225 units sold.
The Chinese government has extended tax cuts for new energy vehicle (NEV) purchases until 2027, providing extra incentives for purchasers to switch to EVs.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said in May that the Model Y will be the best-selling car in the world by 2023, and JATO Dynamics announced that it surpassed the Toyota Corolla in the first quarter. With its impressive April-June delivery numbers, the Model Y is positioned to pioneer green transportation.
