Despite economic difficulties, Pakistan’s “Own Money” culture is thriving. According to a recent report, some consumers are paying up to Rs. 365,000 more to get the Suzuki Alto delivered right away.
According to Autojournal.pk, Alto is selling for high as Rs. 3.3 million. The official Manufacturer’s Recommended Retail Price (MSRP) of the little hatchback is slightly more than Rs. 2.93 million.
The Alto is Pakistan’s best-selling car, even in the used car market. It is logical to assume that people are buying these cars with the intention of selling them for even larger illegal charges than Rs. 365,000.
Suzuki Bounces Back
Suzuki recovered in terms of sales in March, selling over 5,600 units and seeing a significant Month on Month (MoM) increase of 476% in overall sales.
The Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has yet to provide official car sales figures. The breakdown of the previously mentioned sales data is now unknown.
Although this suggests an overall industry recovery, it also shows that demand for new cars remains strong despite large price increases and delivery delays.
