Saudi Arabia Launches New Instant Visit Visa

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new e-visa service for visa holders from the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), and the Schengen area.

Permanent residents of any European Union (EU) country can also use the e-visa service. Furthermore, EU permanent residents can bring their direct family members to the Kingdom. They can get a visa on arrival at any airport, seaport, or land border.

Furthermore, holders of tourism or business visas from the United States, the United Kingdom, or one of the Schengen countries are free from certain requirements. This exemption, however, only applies if they have used the visa at least once to enter the country that granted it.

According to a statement made by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism,

To complete the process of streamlining procedures and providing an integrated tourism experience, the Kingdom allows holders of visas from the United States, the European Union (Schengen), and the United Kingdom, as well as their residents, to obtain a tourist visa electronically and immediately via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) website.

It did explain that tourist visa holders are not permitted to conduct Hajj or Umrah during the pilgrimage season.

According to the Ministry, “the preceding step is consistent with MT’s efforts to facilitate entry into the Kingdom for individuals who wish to visit it, allowing them to enjoy tourism destinations, participate in tourism events, and gain insights into the Kingdom’s heritage and historical depth.”
