The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MoHRSD) has declared Eid Al-Fitr vacations for the private and non-profit sectors. The vacation will begin on Friday, April 21, and end on Tuesday, April 25.
Similarly, in accordance with Saudi labor legislation executive rules, workers will enjoy another four-day vacation for Eid Al-Adha at the end of June this year.
In a separate announcement, Saudi Arabia has encouraged residents to participate in ‘Sadaqah Zabiha,’ a charity activity that involves the sacrifice of an animal during Ramadan. A camel costs $2,399, while a goat or sheep costs $295.
Eid Holidays for UAE Residents
Residents in the UAE can also enjoy a long weekend as the Eid Al-Fitr festivities approach in around two weeks.
According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Society (EAS), Eid Al-Fitr is expected to fall on Friday, April 21. The official public holidays on the Islamic Hijri calendar are set for four days, beginning on 29 Ramadan and ending on 3 Shawwal 1444.
Ramadan begins on March 23 this year and will continue 29 or 30 days according on the lunar calendar.
