Adobe Photoshop Now Supports Google’s Viral “Nano Banana” AI Model

Google’s experimental AI image generator, known online as Nano Banana, has officially been integrated into Adobe Photoshop. However, first unveiled in late August, under the official name Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, the nickname “Nano Banana” was used in Google’s pre-launch testing phase as the tool went viral on social media. It has been so popular that it recently pushed Gemini to the top of the App Store.

Now, Adobe has announced that Photoshop is adding the Generative Fill feature with the help of two other AI-based models: the Nano Banana of Google and the FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] of Black Forest Labs. They join Adobe’s in-house Firefly Image 3 and Image 1 models. The new options are currently available inside the Photoshop beta app.

This model has previously been integrated into Adobe Express, and the standalone Firefly app already allows creators to access generative AI options, including Google’s Veo 3 and OpenAI’s tools.

Early demonstrations within Photoshop highlight why Nano Banana has been raising so much buzz. For example, the above image showed a model bending against a plain blue background. With Generative Fill and Nano Banana, the background was totally changed, and the hairstyle, clothing, and tilt all changed without changing her facial identity.

According to Adobe, Nano Banana is best at stylized edits, graphic flourishes, and imaginative scene-building, whereas FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] should be used to create contextual accuracy, perspective, and environmental realism. Meanwhile, Firefly remains Adobe’s solution for commercially safe, production-grade results, allowing for high-resolution editing, professional layouts, and printing in large format.
